<div itemprop="description">Surrounded by family, Alvin Ammeter passed away peacefully on February 12, 2015 at the Victoria General Hospital. <br /><br />He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Helen (nee Payment), children Debra (Dave Huminicki), Charles (Michele) and Anthony (Danielle). He was adored by grandchildren Amanda (fiance Rolland), Sarah, Ashley and Derek. He also leaves his siblings Margaret Dupuis, Rosalie (Allan) Young and Albert (Geraldine) and sister-in-law Valerie Payment and many nieces and nephews.<br /><br />He was predeceased by his parents Albert and Lina Ammeter, sisters Lilly (Bud) Dickson, Lissetti (Stanley) Riddolls and brothers and sisters-in-laws Alfred (Olivia) Payment, Adeline (Paul) Quinn, Anita (Alfred) Ammeter, Leon Payment, Roger Payment, Fernand (Helen) Payment, Arthur Payment and George Payment. <br /><br />Alvin was born in Sugala, Georgia, Russia on July 21, 1923. Alvin was 6 years old when the family left Russia. The family came to Canada via Switzerland and France. After arriving in Canada, he lived and farmed in Starbuck until his retirement. Alvin and Helen retired to St Vital. <br /><br />He will be lovingly remembered as a kind, gentle and caring man, with a strong work ethic throughout his entire life. In his later years he enjoyed helping on the family farm and spending time with his grandchildren. <br /><br />Alvin was first, last and always a family man. He will be greatly missed.<br /><br />The family would like to extend their gratitude to the caring and compassionate medical staff at the Victoria General Hospital.<br /><br />Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday February 18, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Roman Catholic Parish of Saint Timothy, 135 John Forsyth Road, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers for those who desire, donations may be made to the Heart &amp; Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald Street Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.<br /></div>
