Doris Fontaine (nee Vincent)
July 21, 1924 - December 14, 2015
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Doris on December 14, 2015, at the St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 91 years.
Doris is predeceased by her husband, Raymond Fontaine (1995); her parents Philorum and Marie-Anna (Vinet); her sister Agnes Barnabe; and her five brothers Aimé, Hector, Edgar, Joe, and Sévère.
Doris is lovingly remembered by her three children: John, Sharon (Murray) McDonald, and Carole (Hubert) Verrier; grandchildren: Jared (Michelle) Fontaine, Adam (Jacqueline) Lane, Audrey Lane, Chantal and Janelle Verrier; and four great-grandchildren: Kieran and Kaleigh Fontaine, and Aiden and Callie Lane. She is also survived by her three sisters, Rose Gautron, Thérèse Pelletier, and Alma Dorge; five brothers, Fern (Marge), Syl (Edith), John, Rod (Jeannette), and Alexandre; sisters-in-law, Eugenie, Gabrielle, and Thérèse, and numerous nephews, nieces, brother-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Doris was born in St. Georges, Manitoba, and grew up in a family of 15 children. She later moved to Winnipeg, where she raised a family with her husband, but she always retained fond memories of her childhood on the farm with her siblings. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and listening to “old-time music.”
The family would like to thank the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital and Doris’ homecare providers for their compassion and care.
If friends desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
At Doris’ request, cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at a later date.
