It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Dad and Grandpa, Leslie Garth Hargreaves on January 6, 2017 at the age of 86.

Dad was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Edith Dorothy Hargreaves in 2006. Leslie leaves to morn his passing his two daughters, Leslie, Linda (René); two grandsons, Ryan (Vanessa) and Kyle (Erika); and his great-grandson Hartley. He is also survived by his sister Margie (Bernie).

Leslie is predeceased by his two sisters, Evelyn, Dorothy and two brothers, Hugh and Bert.

Les met Edith while bowling one evening, and asked if he could walk her home. They married two years later on June 30, 1951.

Dad started his career as a car painter. He soon became an expert in matching paint colours for National Motors. Not long after, Dad became a Sales Rep for the Paint Company INMONT Paints which later became BASF. After many years of road trips for work, he became the District Manager for BASF INMONT Canada. Dad had an interesting and great career of over 35 years and many many miles.

Dad was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family time. It was this love that inspired him to build our family cottage at Red Rock Lake. Dad and Mom worked hard each weekend to build our family cottage (the lake). During this time, Dad learned how to be a carpenter, electrician, and plumber. Although he did not know it at the time, his hard work would be loved and appreciated by Linda ,René, Leslie, Ryan ,Vanessa Hartley, Kyle and Erika. Dad’s biggest joy was knowing we loved “our cottage” as much as he did.

Mom and Dad loved being at the Lake and over the years they became friends with many people. Dad loved to help people. Often his planned weekend project was put aside to help out a neighbour. And if you needed a tool, well he had it.

Dad loved to laugh and tell stories. He always had a long story. Dad loved fishing and boating with his grandsons. He lived and enjoyed his last six years at Dakota House, calling it home and making new friends.

A celebration of our Dad’s life will be held at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons Street on Friday, January 13 at 2:00 pm.

For those who wish, a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
