LILLA ALICE YOUNG
(Nee GUNN)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother Lilla Alice Young on April 26, 2013, at the age of 87 years.

Lilla is lovingly remembered by her children Ed (Susan) and Charl (Bruce) Rothwell. She has left this earth to join the love of her life, Charles and daughter Rhonda to look over us all in peace.

Lilla’s pride and joy were her three granddaughters Carrie (Corey), Sarah (Will) and Rebecca (Tony). Lilla enjoyed spending the day with her girls at the duck pond, playing cards, crosswords and watching Gone with the Wind over and over again. She will always be remembered for her cheesecake, no nonsense ways, her extremely hard work and love for her family.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Riverwood Square, Harmony Court for their past years of companionship and the doctors and nurses at the Palliative Care Unit at Victoria General Hospital.

In accordance with Lilla’s wishes her body will be cremated with no memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3, (204) 982-2021

If Roses grow in Heaven Lord,
Then pick a bunch for me.
Place them in our Mother’s arms
And tell her they’re from me.
Tell her that I love her and miss her,
And when she turns to smile,
Place a kiss upon her cheek
And hold her for awhile.
Because remembering her is easy,
I do it every day,
But there’s an ache within my heart
That will never go away.

- Kiarsten Preus
