<div itemprop="description">It is with great sorrow that the family of Lucille Guénette (née Thibodeau) announce her passing on December 15, 2016 at the age of 79 at Actionmarguerite (Foyer Valade).<br><br>Lucille was born on November 13, 1937 in Lestock Saskatchewan to Ida (nee St Cyr) and Laurent Thibodeau. After attending school in both Lestock and Gravelbourg, Lucille came to Winnipeg to attend the School of Nursing at St. Boniface Hospital where she graduated as a registered nurse.<br><br>In 1958 Lucille met the love of her life Jean-Paul Guénette, a school teacher. They were married in 1960 and after living in Warren, Mb for a few years they bought their home and moved to Winnipeg in 1965. Together Jean-Paul and Lucille raised 4 children, who in turn produced 10 grandchildren she loved to spoil. <br><br>Lucille found great satisfaction in her work as a Registered Nurse working in various places including St. Boniface Hospital. She ended her nursing career in 1993 as Assistant Head Nurse at Taché Nursing Centre.<br><br>Lucille and Jean-Paul enjoyed travelling together, taking many camping trips with many summers spent at Blue Lake, Ontario with their family and friends. They also went on many summer trips which included the East and West coasts as well as Florida and Alaska. They built two cottages, one in Buffalo Point and the second in Belair, which they enjoyed immensely in summer and winter as the whole family enjoys snowmobiling. Many cold nights were spent around the fireplace laughing with the grand kids.<br><br> They also travelled extensively overseas taking several cruises including Greece, the Panama Canal, and Alaska.<br><br>Lucille loved her family with all her heart. She often would have the entire family, which in later years included boyfriends and girlfriends of the grand kids, over for big family meals. Lucille also enjoyed attending her grandchildrens' sporting events and activities.<br><br>Lucille was predeceased by her parents Laurent and Ida Thibodeau, brother in law Tom O'Connor. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years Jean-Paul and four children; Marc (Brenda), Richard (Yvette), Suzanne (Robert Fiola) and Nicole. She also leaves to cherish her memory 10 grandchildren; Patrick, Nicholas, Stephanie (friend Nick), Dylan (friend Alexandra), Shelby (fiancee Jayson), Katrina, Sophie, Miguel (friend Taylor), Chantal and Sébastien (friend Sarah). Lucille also leaves behind two sisters, Thérèse O’Connor and Irene Kind (Garry) her brother Douglas Thibodeau (Fern) her sisters-in-law Lucille Séguin, Alice Auger, Germaine Guénette, and Blanche Guénette as well as her many nieces and nephews. <br><br>Funeral services will be held on Thursday December 22 at Sts Martyrs-Canadiens Church, 289 Dussault St, Windsor Park. The Eulogy will start at 10:15 am, followed by the mass at 10 :30 am.<br><br>The family wishes to thank the staff of Unité Marguerite for their care and compassion during mom’s time there.<br><br>For those who wish, donations could be made to the Alzheimers Society or a charity of your choice.<br><br></div>
