It is with deep sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of our oldest brother, Murray Stephen Yarema, in Winnipeg on Monday, January 16, 2017 at the age of 67 years. Murray was predeceased by his father Steve, mother Helen and youngest brother Mark and leaves to mourn his passing brother Michael (Margaret) and sisters Tanis (Mark) and Cherie (Helen) as well as several nephews and nieces. Special friends include Gate, Louise, Alex, Nancy & Christy, all of whom he held in high regard.

Murray graduated from Neelin High School and went to work at Metal Industries in Brandon which later was bought by Canadian Brown Steel Tank and finally by Kansteel. Murray worked his entire life in the industry starting as general shop labourer to plant manager until his retirement in 2015 due to ill health. The company was still very much in his heart though as he had made numerous trips to Brandon over the last 2 years to ‘visit’.

Murray lived in Brandon for a good part of his adult life but once he found the solitude of Carberry that changed. In his mind, there was nothing better than to be out at ‘the farm’ enjoying the sound of silence and breathing in nature at its finest. Sitting on the deck, watching the grass grow and the buds sprout or finding the first crocus of the season brought a great sense of peace and enjoyment which he wasn’t able to find in the city. He very much enjoyed his fishing trips out to Cranberry Portage and Vegas trips with his ‘Estevan family’.

At Murray’s request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held from 1:00 – 3:00pm on Friday, January 27 at the Victoria Inn, 3550 Victoria Avenue, Brandon, MB.

For those who wish, donations may be made to a charity of choice.

‘You can take the boy out of the country but you can’t take the country out of the boy’
