It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patrick on April 21, 2016 at the Riverview Health Centre after a long illness.

Patrick was predeceased by his mother, Lorna Viola Pearen, his maternal grand-parents and numerous close friends.

Patrick will be deeply missed by his loving partner Suzanne Léveillé (née Corbeil), the Frederickson families, the wonderful Corbeil clan, his cherished nephews and nieces and by many dear friends.

Patrick was born in Yorkton, Sask. and raised in Winnipeg. He graduated from the University of Manitoba with degrees in Science and Psychology.

Patrick was a man of honour, integrity and loyalty. He valued material possessions only in as much as they could enhance the experience of living. What mattered foremost to him were family, friends, mother nature and all her creations.

Of sunny disposition, he embraced life with an intense zeal. He carved out a successful career with the Public Service of Canada, working for the Indian Affairs Department in Ottawa, and in Winnipeg for the former HRDC and EDB programs and Western Economic Diversification. Patrick felt extremely fortunate to have been surrounded by co-workers who were highly intelligent, dedicated, creative and slightly offbeat. Proud of their accomplishments, they worked hard and played hard.

Patrick was an exceptionally gifted individual. Endowed with a rich, powerful baritone voice, he loved to sing and loved music of all genres except rap. Whatever he was doing, there was a song running through his head.

He regaled assembled family and friends with his priceless sense of humour and wit, his original turn of phrase and of mind, his captivating storytelling and his countless imitations.

Multi-talented, his mind united the qualities of the scientist, the inventor, the leader, the artist and poet. A skilled hands-on person, he built a home, decks, ponds and gardens for the koi he bred. Among his many passions, his favourite were fishing on his beloved Pine River and hunting with good friends.

During the last few years of his life as his health declined, he met enormous challenges with courage and dignity. Patrick was filled with an immense gratitude for the full and generous life he had lived. Before leaving this earth, he wanted to thank all those who had loved him, inspired him and helped him along on his path.
He wished them all happiness, health, love, laughter and song for their remaining journey.

We wish to offer special thanks to those who supported us throughout this difficult time: Marie and Pierre Bélanger, Shawn McClellan, Dale Johnston and family, Kyle Frederickson, Linda Sangster, Myrna Nemeth, Maurice Montreuil, Karen Létourneau, Claudette Desrochers, Marc Lussier, Toby Rutner, Agnès Champagne, Misha Feldman, Joan Hodgson, Louise Hébert, Renardo, Mr. Chatterton and many others.

We convey our deepest appreciation to his G.P. Dr. Bret Schifke, to his caring neurologist, Dr. Esseddeeg Grooda, and his other specialists, to the 6E medical staff at St. Boniface Hospital, to Helen and Bonnie at the Riverview Centre, and to the Dakota Pharmacy for their assistance.

A Celebration of Patrick's life will be held on May 12, 2016 at the Cathedral Manor, 4th floor, at 6:00 pm. A reception is included. Parking is available directly across the Manor at Provencher School and at the La Vérendry Bowling Lanes at 614 Des Meurons St.

Cremation took place at the Desjardins Funeral Chapel.
