It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother Pearl on November 13, 2016 at Riverview Health Centre after a brief but courageous battle with cancer at the age of 92 years.

Pearl was predeceased by her loving husband Bill in 2001. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Maureen (Bert) Carlson of Falcon Lake, MB, Lynn (Gary) Foreman of Nanoose Bay, BC, and Lori (Dave) Skinner of Winnipeg; her grandchildren: J.J., Mandy (Derek Wolfe), Michael (Allison), Kristen, Trevor (Luticia), Carly (Fred King), and Krista (Andrew Scheerschmidt); her great-grandchildren Nolan & Zachary Wolfe, Kherys & Jace Foreman, Dom & Jonathan Anderson, Caylee Foreman, Jack King & Austin Scheerschmidt; and step-grandchildren: Madisen, Drayton and Ashton. Mom will also be missed by special family friend Lynn Gallagher & family, as well as many dear relatives, friends and neighbours.

Born and raised in Morris, MB, Pearl was the youngest girl in a family of 13 children. She and Bill married in 1942 and moved into their new home in St. Vital a few years later. Pearl resided there until 2006 when she moved to Dakota House.

Mom was an extraordinary seamstress, who could also knit and crochet, which was a good thing with three daughters to raise. She could make anything from wedding and bridesmaid dresses for family and friends, to upholstering furniture and making Halloween costumes. Her talents were called on by many over the years.

Pearl was an avid sports fan and had been a Blue Bomber season ticket holder for 64 years, attending many Grey Cups with Bill. She was quite honoured most recently with receiving a brick at Investors Group Field recognizing her as a long standing season ticket holder since 1952. She also enjoyed the fellowship and fun lunches with the bowling league she belonged to.

Pearl was a 25 year plus member of three different organizations: The Order of Eastern Star; Khartum Ladies Auxillary; and Daughters of the Nile, Patrol Unit. She held office at various times throughout the years. She travelled to many a Supreme Session, both in Canada and the USA with the Patrol ladies who became great friends to Mom, and she wanted us to be sure to thank the ladies of Sphinx Temple #116 Patrol.

We would like to thank the Palliative Care staff of Riverview Health Centre for their gentle care and kindness. You are an amazing group of people who treated Mom with compassion, dignity and respect.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 24, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Church in Meadowood, 1111 Dakota Street.

A gathering of family and friends will follow in the reception area.

If friends so desire, donations in Pearl’s honour may be made to a charity of your choice.
