<div itemprop="description">Robert Brezden - BSc. CE <br> <br> Peacefully at home in Winnipeg with his wife Madeline and daughter Tanisha at his side, Bob passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2016. He was predeceased by his mother Melba (Pion) Brezden, and is survived by his loving Papa Norm MacDonald. <br> Bob was born in Winnipeg on December 2, 1949 and graduated Gordon Bell High School. He and Melba lived for many years on Garfield Street North, close to Minto Armouries. <br> In 1963, Bob joined the RCSCC Crusader Sea Cadets, where he met is life-long friends Al Bailie, Richard Janusz, Fred Brennan and Rick Caslake. Upon leaving cadets, Bob signed up with the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders Pipe Band, and travelled to competitions and performances throughout North America, including a mass pipes and drums that led the Rose Bowl Parade in the U.S. His accomplishments as a piper earned him the honour of “Pipe Major” with the Khartum Shriners Pipes & Drums, Winnipeg. <br> Bob obtained his Civil Engineering degree in 1972 at the University of Manitoba. As a Civil Engineering Project Management Consultant, Bob worked extensively in Africa on railways, bridges and international airports. In September 1987, Bob was accorded the "Knight of the Order of National Merit" for Engineering services rendered to the Republic of Gabon, by the President of the Republic of Gabon. <br> Bob met his wife Madeline while working in Cameroon. They were married in a Canadian ceremony held with family and friends, upon their return to Winnipeg. Bob and Madeline were soon blessed with their daughter Tanisha. <br> In the final days of Bob’s life, St. Christopher, Patron Saint of Travelers walked beside him, as Bob continued to express his unique Mensa (Top 5% Member) sense of humour - dry, witty and challenging. <br> <br> In lieu of flowers, please donate to Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation in Bob’s name. <br> <br> Funeral services will be held at St. Gerard Parish on Tuesday, August 23 at 1:00pm, 45 Foster Street, Winnipeg. <br> <br></div>
