SHARI MAY ADAMS
(nee SAUNDERSON)

After a courageous battle with cancer, it is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Shari May Adams at the Concordia Hospital on April 19, 2014 at the age of 51 with family at her side.

Shari will be lovingly remembered by sons Justin (Hailey), Rob (Becky), Curtis (Shawna) and Mattheau; siblings Lois (Helen), Larry (Pamela), Shauna (Tim) and Scott (Stacy); granddaughter Alyssa, many nieces and nephews and their families, aunts, uncles, cousins and great friends.

Shari was predeceased by her grandparents Cecil and Beatrice, father Robert and in 1998 her brother Lyndon.

Shari was born on August 21, 1962 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the fourth of six children. She spent most of her life living in Winnipeg. In June of 1982 she would marry Robert Adams and together they would have four wonderful sons. She was a stay at home mom and when her sons were older she worked as a cook and a baker. After 16 years of marriage Robert and Shari would separate and she would move to Okotoks, Alberta. She worked as a welders' helper working on the oil patch in northern Alberta. Shari was often the lone woman in this tough group of men, but she raised four sons and she knew how to handle them and put them in their place.

She was an extremely hard worker and earned total respect from the crews she worked with.

In March of 2009 she developed breast cancer and later lung cancer. She retired and went through her treatments, chemo and surgeries. The next four years she spent her time relaxing, camping and traveling back and forth to Winnipeg to visit her sons, siblings and her granddaughter Alyssa (her pride and joy) born in July of 2010. In April 2013 her breast and lung cancer would return only this time much stronger than before. But she had such determination that since she beat cancer before so why not try again. Shari returned to Winnipeg and resided with her sister Lois and partner Helen so she could try to beat this disease. She put on a courageous fight so she could spend more time with her granddaughter, her "boys" and be there for her oldest son's wedding in May.

Shari liked to play Bingo, read Archie comics, playing and usually winning with scratch tickets and collecting anything to do with Betty Boop. Her last 2 weeks were spent in palliative care at the Concordia Hospital in Winnipeg. The nurses and staff there were absolutely amazing and they loved her determination.

Unfortunately God had other plans and needed her more and she left us on April 19th to become our guardian angel. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. Shari will be remembered as an outstanding mother, fantastic sister, loving aunt, amazing Nana and terrific friend. Until we meet again, we love you Shari.

We would like to thank all the nurses, doctors and staff at Concordia Hospital for the excellent care given to Shari and to Kathleen for all the prayers and comforting talks with Shari and her family.

In keeping with her wishes, a funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on April 26, 2014 at Desjardins Funeral Chapel at 357 Des Meurons with Kathleen Rempel Boschman officiating with reception to follow. Internment will occur at a later date in Souris, Manitoba were she will be joining her grandparents, father and brother.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 9Z9, or to a charity of your choice.

Desjardins
